BMW R80/7 (1980) The Bobber "à la française" After we made our first bobber on a BMW R65 base, I wanted to give an even more radical interpretation of the mythical Boxer. Basically, the idea was to make a really clean and very sober bobber. The black quickly imposed itself and I then wanted to give it a "class" note with the presence of leather on the cheeks of the tank which is at the same time a reference to the automobile world and to French culture with the world-renowned know-how of the great French leather goods manufacturers.
Our first work was therefore the tank, the centrepiece of the machine's line, replacing the imposing knee gums with full grain "chocolate brown" leather elements made by our saddler. The double "gold" border with its superb reflections gives a luminous touch to the whole. In our desire to make a bobber as clean as possible, Patrick pierced the tank in front of the chrome filling cap to integrate a Daytona counter.
In its extension, a big work was carried out on the saddle dressed with the same leather as the cheeks of tank. A colour that can be found as a reminder on the grips to perfect the whole. The rear loop of the frame, reduced to its simplest expression of saddle support, has been modified to receive the Koni shock absorbers completely reconditioned. The rear fender was entirely made by us. Great art!
After the total overhaul of the engine, where we even pushed the delirium to galvanize the original bolts, Patrick had the great idea to paint it entirely black, then to sand the cooling fins at the ends to add a final touch of class. All extended by chrome megaphone silencers. The frame, modified to accommodate new footpegs, has been painted black powder-coated to match the overall design. An original lowered and reconditioned fork, a flat handlebar and Motogadget peripherals complete the picture for a result we let you admire. . . We love it!
